Known years ago as the Lord Balfour, the hotel became the Wave Hotel from 2000 to 2011. After a total renovation, the 64-room hotel reopened last July in its 1940 Art Deco building. The old moniker has returned, but the aesthetic is all new. The hotel eschews trite English décor — club chairs, wood paneling — for brash, colorful, contemporary spaces enlivened by playful details.
